Spreading over and past the banks of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, the capital city of Cambodia is home to over two million people – nearly 15% of the country’s population. Cambodia’s diverse cultural influences combine in these waters, from the colonial architecture of the one-time French rulers to the golden-roofed palace of the current royal family.

Every year, millions of tourists flock to Siem Reap to tour its most famous attraction, the sprawling temple complex of Angkor Wat. The reputation is well deserved – it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and most travelers find their way to Angkor Wat at some point during their vacation. Siem Reap itself, however, is a can’t miss attraction of its own.
